Seinfeld reunion

Eleven years ago, when one of the most successful sitcoms of all times ended, no one would have thought that “New York Four” will be seen together on the small screen once again. This time it was something different, strange, yet too familiar and unique.

Larry David, a man behind all this, used Seinfeld reunion as a story line for Season 7 of his own TV show “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. Entire season is progressing nicely towards the end only a loyal Curb fan would expect. When the news of the reunion was out, most fans got too excited. This reunion was completely different that one could see on most shows. Larry’s unique sense to detect and exploit even the smallest gaps in society led to completely unexpected turn of events.

This season was more than just a reunion show. It gives us the other perspective of how Seinfeld was developed and what made it such a huge hit in the 90s. All previous seasons of Curb were somehow incorporated into the story. Seeing Larry and Jerry acting together was priceless. Julia and Jason with certain aggressive tone against Larry was something of a positive surprise. And finally, who would dare to dig Michael’s racist problems and turn them into unforgettable scenes?

The very reunion was done in a new tone of the 2009, as opposed to the one original show took place. Almost entire set was brought back to life, revised and renewed. But when actors took their places it flourished with the same feeling of joy. It was like the characters were mummified and resurrected, with hardly any transition at all. Cast did a great job and it only confirmed what kind of stars they are – the ones that will shine forever.

Probably most interesting part of entire season was to see how Larry interact with the world. His motives, ideas and actions are totally inadequate, sometimes even careless which makes them so funny. He insulted people, was impolite, cheated and accused. He even tried to play George like it was meant to be!

The season’s finale brings us the bits of the alternative Seinfeld ending episode. Everything was there and as you watch it you get the same feelings back, like they never left. And then, the break that makes Curb what it is – Larry does something what most man dare not to do, and we all want to do something like that sometimes. There are times when justice is above everything, even makeup sex!

All in all, the long awaited reunion is over. The audience all over the world should be pleased to see everything and nothing once again. Is this the definite end? According to Larry, this should never happen, yet it did, so if you are wondering if we will see them again together, only the time will tell.
